2015 Undefeated CAS Rugby Champions
“In the Knox Grammar rugby program of 2014, I identified the need for the players to develop the ability for "high quality repeat effort sprinting" in games. In short I not only needed the players faster and more agile, I needed them to be able to repeat it again and again.
I turned to Cathy Walsh for assistance. Coach Walsh has a vast library of experience at every level of sport, form Professional American Football, through the American College system to Australian schools. She is highly organised, thoroughly well planed and sets the highest standards required for athletes to achieve their goals.
With her excellent technical knowledge, communicative coaching style and astute feedback to the players, the improvements from the athletes was almost immediate. After several months of conditioning under Cathys' program the results were obvious for all to see. Faster, more running efficient and more agile athletes emerged.
In 2015 the Knox 1st and 2nd XV rugby teams were both undefeated CAS Champions. A first for Knox Grammar. Cathy's agility, speed, pool recovery and speed endurance programs played a very big part in the success of the Knox rugby teams.
Cathy's experience as a coach and her positive personality were great assets for the rugby program and for the players both as a team and as individuals.
To put it bluntly, Knox would not have won without her.”
Matt Williams (Director of Rugby - Knox Grammar School)
“Cathy has made an enormous contribution to the Track and Field program at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview in her coaching and mentoring role. This is represented in the high quality of the physical performances of the athletes on the track, but is also evidenced by the overall growth of those students with whom she works directly. They have enormous respect for Cathy, not only due to her outstanding technical expertise, but as a result of her ability to form excellent relationships and commit wholeheartedly to the education of the boys at a holistic level. This combination of skills - the ability to impart outstanding technical knowledge and develop excellent interpersonal relationships - is an increasingly rare quality that Cathy possesses and one that ensures her contributions are marked by thoroughness and success. We have certainly been blessed to have her involved in a such a significant way, in terms of the development and education of our students.”
